I’m Matthew Fiske. I make Web sites.

For over five years that’s pretty much what I’ve done. I realize it’s not really the sort of activity many can appreciate. Writing markup by hand, memorizing various kinds of syntax, learning (or at least knowing enough) about different server side languages, using Adobe Suite, WordPress, Mac platforms, Windows platforms and a host of other technologies just to get something online probably sounds tedious. I won’t lie, it often can be. But I still enjoy it. There’s nothing quite as satisfying as a finished project that can meet and exceed expectations.

I’m also an Ad guy

Being the bricklayer on a construction site can be a rewarding experience, but I also wanted to get a peak into what the architect does, too. So I went to the Reynolds School of Journalism at UNR and learned about advertising. The art of copyrighting, proofreading, critiquing, researching and that magical term: Integrated Marketing Communications (or IMC for short). Taking all the pieces of research and creative to make something cohesive and effective. I got so into this that I joined the American Advertising Federation’s student IMC competition team, and even became the Creative Director.

So, what am I now?

I work for a large multi-state business providing front-end Web design work and image processing services. I’m no longer an independent contractor and I am not currently available for any new work.
